ANZ Young Geotechnical Professionals Conference 2008

5th to 8th November

The 8th ANZ Young Geotechnical Professionals Conference is for geotechnical professionals from Australia and New Zealand, who are less than 35 years of age with a maximum of 10 years’ experience.

 

Nominations have now closed, no more abstracts will be accepted. Successful nominations will be selected based on the quality and relevance of the abstract. Several awards to attend the 8YGPC will also be made, courtesy of EQC and NZGS.

 

The 2008 YGPC will be held on the 5th to 8th November 2008, in Wellington, New Zealand, with accommodation split between the  Copthorne Oriental on Oriental Parade, a fabulous location right on the waterfront with great views of Wellington & the harbour, and the Museum Hotel, opposite Te Papa. Accommodation costs will be included within the conference registration fees.

 

Delegates will arrive in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday 5th November, and the conference will start with a relaxed welcome evening. Presentations commencing the following morning. The conference will also include an afternoon field trip in and around the Wellington region.

       The conference aims to:

·   Provide a forum at which delegates can benefit from the insight of acknowledged experts within the profession,

·   Expand and strengthen the lines of communication between young professionals across Australia and New Zealand within the field of Geomechanics,

·   Promote the professional development of delegates through sharing of ideas and experiences,

·   Promote an enhanced perspective of the varied roles, responsibilities and opportunities encompassed by the geotechnical profession, and

·   Encourage the exchange of knowledge between consultants, research institutions, contractors and industry associated with the geotechnical industry

 

The conference will draw upon the experiences of the seven previous Australia – New Zealand Young Geotechnical Professionals Conferences, to provide an enjoyable and informative event aimed at the development of future leaders in the geotechnical profession.
