Sally Hargraves
Sally is an Engineering Geologist and director of Terrane Consultants Ltd, Tauranga. She studied geology in the UK, before joining CL Associates based in Birmingham, and began work as an engineering geologist. She moved to NZ and found work with Connell Wagner in Tauranga.
Three years later, she joined Tonkin & Taylor Ltd in Tauranga and after a maternity leave break she co-founded Terrane Consultants Ltd, a new geotechnical consultancy, which started up in March 2005.

* Jeff Bryant is the senior principal at Geoconsulting Ltd, based in Queenstown. Geoconsulting Ltd provide engineering geological, geological and geotechnical advice in support of a wide variety of civil projects in a wide variety of terrains. Natural hazard and risk assessment including natural disaster emergency response is a specialty.
** Professor John Atkinson rejoined Coffey Geotechnics (UK) as a senior principal. He initially worked with Coffey in Brisbane from 1967–69. In his new role he will provide input into projects and staff training from London and during his visits to Australia. John graduated as a civil engineer from Imperial College in London and completed his Masters and PhD at Imperial College. He has worked in Cambridge and Cardiff Universities and is currently professor of soil mechanics at City University in London. John is well known for his research into soil stiffness which was the subject of his Rankine Lecture in 2000. He has written several textbooks on geotechnical engineering including the highly influential ‘The Mechanics of Soils’ with Peter Bransby. He has been chairman of the Engineering Group of the Geological Society and is currently editor of ‘Geotechnique’.
