NELSON BRANCH

Local geotechnical practitioners thoroughly enjoyed hosting the biennial NZGS symposium recently held at the Hotel Rutherford in Nelson. It was great to have the geotechnical community gathered in Nelson to enjoy Nelson’s finest.

Over 40 people attended a presentation by Dr Mike Johnston at the Nelson Club in late November last year. Mike’s talk titled ‘Mitigating Geohazards in the Community - The Nelson Response’ was very well received and has been presented as far a field as Tasmania.Other than that the local group has been pretty quiet.
